IMPACT WASAGA BEACH CLUB CORONAVIRUS FRONT LINE WORKER RECOGNITION INITIATIVE UPDATE - APRIL 15TH, 2020

Good afternoon Impact Wasaga Beach Members;

There has been a lot of exciting happenings since our last update related to both our club and our Front Line Worker Recognition Initiative. We are very pleased to announce Mark Crowe as our newest director. Mark now joins Patrice McCammon, Heather Prichard and Joe Belanger as our club directors. As you are all aware Mark has been a huge contributor to our community for many years and he wanted to become a part of the good community work performed by our Impact Wasaga Beach Club. To further enhance the impact of our current community initiative Mark Crowe has made a very generous donation of $5,000.00 and we will detail as to how this money will be put to good use later in this update.

In our last update we indicated we had recognized the front line workers at Canadian Tire and in return owner & Impact Club member Kenn Voss generously enhanced our current program by donating ten twenty litre pails of hand sanitizer valued at more than $2,000.00 to be distributed by our Impact Club. To date we have distributed to The Wasaga Beach Ministerial Food Bank, Georgian Triangle Hospice, Wasaga Beach Fire Dept., Public Works & Town Hall, a number of pharmacies (for their own use) and Waterside Retirement Lodge. We also dropped off siphon pumps and spray bottles for those locations that were not equipped to utilize the bulk 20 ltr. packaging.

This week we will be dropping off thank you packages and gift cards to Georgian Triangle Hospice and TD Canada Trust. We contacted Collingwood General and Marine Hospital as we wanted to donate $1,000.00 to supply lunches and dinners to front line heath professionals however the hospital has strict processes in place that did not allow this. Instead at the request of the hospital we will be making a $1,000.00 donation to the Wasaga Beach Ministerial Food Bank in honour of our heath care heroes who put their own well being at risk everyday to take care of us. The hospital also suggested that lawn signs thanking our health care professionals are also greatly appreciated.

In addition to the donation above Mark Crowe has requested that a further $3,000.00 of his generous donation be given to our food bank as the need is great and demand on our food bank is increasing daily. We will be arranging for a cheque presentation to the food bank next week. The final $1,000.00 of Mark Crowe’s donation will allow us to continue to recognize front line workers by providing thank you packages with local restaurant gift cards.

This takes are total fund raising to $6,920.00 plus +$2,000.00 in hand sanitizer. With the cheque presentation to be scheduled for next week we will have donated $4,750.00 to our Wasaga Beach Ministerial Food Bank and distributed almost $1,500.00 in thank you packages with gift cards.

Special thanks to Mark Crowe of Stonebridge Developments and Kenn Voss of Wasaga Beach Canadian Tire!

In addition thank you for those that have already generously donated and if you are considering a donation you can send cheques to the following address made out to Patrice McCammon (Treasurer) and enter Impact Wasaga Beach Club on the memo line.
