SHINE YOUR LIGHT, LET'S MAKE EVERYONE'S CHRISTMAS BRIGHT - COPY

Dear Impact Wasaga Beach Club Members

In 2019 we were able to put on a Christmas dinner with all the trimmings and gifts for the children for many of our less fortunate residents. In 2020 due to COVID-19 the need is even greater but unfortunately we are not able to gather for a Christmas dinner.

Instead we will launch our 2020 charitable fundraiser .....

“Shine Your Light & Let’s Make Everyone’s Christmas Bright!”

This year’s initiative will support the Wasaga Beach Ministerial Food Bank, the Kinette Toy Drive and the Wasaga Beach In Out Of The Cold.

This will include adding special treats to the 300 Christmas hampers distributed by the Food Bank plus a cash donation, board games, remote control cars & trucks plus gift cards for the toy drive and a monetary donation for In Out Of The Cold.

How much of a positive difference we can make is contingent on your generosity and that of the friends & family that you ask to participate.
You can make your monetary donation to the Go Fund Me link below or make your commitment care of our treasurer Patrice McCammon at email mccammonpatrice@gmail.com and we will arrange to pick up your donation.

All cheques are to be made payable to the Wasaga Beach Ministerial Food Bank and enter Shine Your Light on the memo line. Charitable receipts will be issued for all donations over $20.00.

Before you decide on an amount please read the information below!

The need in Wasaga Beach has historically been considerable with our Wasaga Beach Ministerial Food Bank providing support for more than 420 families consisting of more than 1,250 adults & seniors plus 450 children. This was before COVID-19 resulted in higher levels of unemployment and homelessness. We do not know the full extent of new food bank clients as interviews and normal registration have not been possible through the pandemic.

The thought of fellow residents going hungry is heartbreaking! We also want to remind you that food bank clients can only pick up a three to four day supply of food once per month and honestly for many it may not be enough. To the best of their ability our food bank tries to respond to crisis situations and with your support we can do more.

For most of us Christmas is a joyous season with more than enough to eat, a warm home, gifts for friends, family, children and grand children. For far too many it can be stressful and depressing when they cannot provide the basic necessities for their families, let alone providing Christmas gifts for loved ones. In 2020 there are too many that are feeling a sense of failure, shame and despair because they are needing to ask our food bank for help for the first time in their life. They don’t know how they are going to explain to their young children that Santa did not leave a gift this year or worse yet they do not even have a roof over their head. In many cases this situation is through no fault of their own! COVID has resulted in considerable loss of employment, seniors on fixed income have lost a spouse and can’t make ends meet, illness has resulted in added expense and inability to work ......so please ....

“SHINE YOUR LIGHT, LET’S MAKE EVERYONE’S CHRISTMAS BRIGHT!”
