This weekend marks the first Sunday of advent. It is a time of joy as we await the coming of our Lord. But it is also a somber time, as we reflect on why He came and what he came to do--save us from ourselves and bring us where God meant us to be, with Him. 

An advent calendar is meant to remind us, as each day passes we are coming close to His arrival. It is not a countdown using calendars with popular kids' movies or Santa Claus calendars. It is a calendar marking each day of a journey. The journey of His coming. So, meditate and pray about the greatest moment in human history. The coming of Jesus Christ our Lord.

As October comes to an end All Saints Day Souls Day are fast approaching. It is a time that we remember more acutely loved ones long gone, those not so and those still here. More than that though we need to remember those who have no one to remember them or those we or society itself despises. The Lord said even sinners love those who love them back. If we love only those who love us back what reward will we have? Will we be able to say to the Lord “I loved all in Your Name?” Each of us needs to examine those in our lives and in our past we would rather forget or lose contact with, remember them, and more importantly, pray for them. Light candles for them. It may be difficult but it gets easier. We are the ones who will find peace and with God’s grace them too.

 
Some of us are lost and want to be found.
Some of us have lost our way and need to find it again.
Some of us are just plain indifferent.
Whatever the reason you are where you are, just follow the signs. You’ll find your way.
