What is the most listened to radio station in South Georgian Bay?  According to independent marketing research company, RMCG Inc. of Barrie, it’s 97-7 the Beach.  In a recent survey, 32% of respondents said the Beach is the radio station they listen to in a typical week. 
 
The Beach was also the #1 favourite radio station with a leading 23% share of listening in Wasaga Beach, Collingwood and Clearview Township.  More respondents identified the Beach as “the station that put them in a great mood!” than any other station!
 
The Beach also had the highest “excellent” rating for music selection, local news, traffic and marine information.
 
 97-7 the Beach recently celebrated its 10th anniversary and is part of a family of stations independently owned by Doug Caldwell, himself a “part-timer” in Creemore.  Doug bought AM station, CFOS Owen Sound in 1985.  Since then he has added 7 new FM stations across cottage country...in Owen Sound (Mix 106.5 and Country 93), Port Elgin (98 the Beach), South Georgian Bay (97-7 the Beach), Goderich (104.9 the Beach), Shelburne (Country 105) and Orillia (Sunshine 89).  A new FM (Country 102) is scheduled to launch in Muskoka next year.
